As many of you know, our nominated Class Reps are so important in helping us, the P&C, to communicate with our families and to pull together resources, donations and helpers for all of our school events such as the Spring Fair but as we saw during the 2022 floods, they are a valuable resource in times of crises.
Each class at GSS has a class rep who is a parent/ carer volunteer from the class. The position may be shared between 2 or more parents.
As a minimum…
Contact lists – if you do not have a contact list for the parents in your class, please work with your teacher to develop one. The best way to do this, is to draft an email for the teacher to send to all parents, asking them to get in touch with you if they would like to receive emails about class events, and other information about what is happening at school. This is important for helping to get information out to parents across the school, particularly as we lead into events like the Spellathon, Fete or Trivia Night.
Class Social Events – Often Parent Reps like to organise social get-togethers for the children and parents from their class as a way of helping to build the friendships that are already forming in & out of the classroom. Ideas include after-school plays on the netball courts or memorial park playground, weekend park plays or parent social dinners. How or when this happens is totally up to you.
We also ask all our Families to Like and Share the Graceville State School parents Facebook and Instagram pages to stay in the loop:
